PORTLAND!!!!

I've been waiting a long, long time in life for an opportunity to head to Portland, OR. And I've now made it. And it seems to be everything I thought it would be. It's a bit like if someone took Madison, WI and the Twin Cities and mashed them together then shoved them in the Pacific Northwest of the US. I listened to The Apology Song while flying in a plane over Missoula, MT. I saw an amazing view of Mt. St. Helen, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Rainier. I rode the light rail from the airport to downtown. I had the best gluten-free pizza I've had since I started doing this gluten-free thing (it was seriously better than some NON gluten-free pizza). I wandered around a used bookstore that's organized into ROOMS by COLOR and takes up an entire city block. I did all of this while not wearing a jacket because it's 55 degrees and sunny.

The one thing I've noticed is that there are a lot of people out and about. Even though it was 3 when I was heading back here, there were still quite a few people around the city and in the bookstore. I'm not sure what this means. I do know that this is, in a way, a university town...so I'm operating under the principal that it's akin to how there were always people about in Madison no matter what time of day it was.

There are also food carts everywhere. Lots of food in this city. I'm looking forward to partaking.

I know I did a bad job of blogging about Texas, but I'm really going to try to do a good job here in Portland. I've been looking forward to visiting this fine city for quite some time, and I hope I can make time to share my thoughts with you all.
