In Case You've Ever Wondered About The Middle of Wisconsin

I'm a 'Sconnie (that's my friend Daryl BTW--former Bucky Badger for the University of Wisconsin). I'll admit it. So I live in the TC now, but as I said when I got my Minnesota Driver's License, "You can take the girl out of Wisconsin, but you can't take the 'Sconnie out of the girl."

What's my point? Camping.

What? Camping. Every summer my whole ginormogantic extended family on my dad's side goes camping somewhere on the north to north central east coast of Wisconsin. (Yeah, I'm a geographer. Do you have a problem with those directions???) Much of "the fam" lives very near the homestead of Manitowoc County, with a few scattered near the Fox Cities area (and my branch from Milwaukee), so we travel to the central east coast each year. This year marks the first time I've made the drive from the TC to Sheboygan County. It's a 6 hour drive from the TC to there (the TC is a geographical oddity, 6 hours from everywhere), so we loaded up the rental Subaru Legacy and headed out. I've included some pictures of our fine trip across the fat part of the state (complete with my awesome in-car photography) so you can live the fun of 'Sconnie with everyone else.
(Neither of us has an attachment to this park, nor have we ever been there. We just like the old tyme treasure map concept that this sign afforded. The one I missed which was just an X and an arrow pointing to the exit was even better.)

(County highways in WI are given letters. One or two letters....very rarely 3. With little to no rhyme or reason. We had passed CTH X, then we came to CTH XX a little ways down the road. B said, "This trip's getting increasingly more hardcore." I took a photo.)

(In 'Sconnie, we keep our native prairies cooped up at the rest area as examples for everyone to look at.)

(Ok, I just thought this was really pretty. It's so typical small town midwest.)

(Your ubiquitous leader kicking it by the marsh at sunset as she's so apt to do when given an opportunity.)

(This is Jo(e). A kid from the neighboring campsite. The whole fam spent pretty much the entire weekend trying to decide this child's gender. After seeing the parents, we mostly decided on male with a highly unfortunate haircut.)

(Seriously.....this is the best grocery store I've ever been to. They had EVERYTHING we'd brought with us AND everything we needed to buy from the store, plus a bunch of stuff I wanted to buy even though I didn't need it for the weekend. Next year, I'm not bringing food. I'm just going to stop at this store and get it all.)

There you are, folks. My Wisconsin "vacation". It's obvious why the Illannoyings vacation there, right? It will be if you spend any time driving through Illinois.
